Pune: Suicide Of Kopardi Rape Case Convict Jitendra Shinde Inside Yerwada Jail

Yerwada, 9th September 2023: Jitendra Shinde, the primary accused in the infamous Kopardi rape and murder case in Ahmednagar, has taken his own life by hanging himself in Pune’s Yerwada Jail. This distressing incident came to light during the early morning patrol. Senior officials have rushed to the spot to investigate the matter further.

 

Shinde, who was serving a life sentence for his involvement in the shocking Kopardi case that sent shockwaves across Maharashtra, was incarcerated in Yerwada Jail. Tragically, Shinde chose to end his life by hanging in the jail’s barracks.

 

The discovery of Shinde’s lifeless body occurred during the routine patrol conducted by officers within the Yerwada Jail premises. The revelation has left both prison authorities and law enforcement deeply shaken.

 

Senior officials have rushed to Yerwada Jail to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Shinde’s apparent suicide.

 

A 15 year old girl from Maratha community was gangraped and murdered by three Dalit men in the village Kopardi, in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. The victim’s teeth and limb were broken and had bite marks all over her body. Millions of Marathas protested in Western Mahrashtrian towns. Protests continued for six weeks against the rape murder. The three accused were convicted of the gangrape and murder in 2017.
