Viman Nagar, 13th February 2025: The demand to remove the partial Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor on Nagar Road has intensified, with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) highlighting its role in worsening traffic congestion and increasing accidents. Former MLA and NCP leader Sunil Tingre has been actively raising this issue, including in the state legislature.

Following the intervention of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the BRT stretch from Yerawada to Somnath Nagar Chowk was successfully dismantled. However, the section from Somnath Nagar Chowk to Kharadi remains operational and continues to be a hotspot for accidents.

The issue escalated on Monday night when a tanker mistakenly entered the BRT lane, triggering a severe traffic jam. The disruption caused significant delays for commuters from Chandannagar, Kharadi, and Vadgaon Sheri, particularly those traveling to work the following morning.
