Pune: Techie Duped Of Rs 20 Lakh On Pretext Of Job Offer

Kothrud, October 29, 2020: A 40-year-old IT engineer was duped of Rs 20 lakh under the false pretext of being given a lucrative job opportunity.

 

The victim Madhav Kenjale, a resident of Kothrud, has filed a complaint with Alankar Police station in this matter.

 

According to police, Kenjale had uploaded his biodata on various job portals. The fraudsters obtained his biodata from a website and after which he was contacted several times through phone calls and emails as well.

 

The scammers coaxed Kenjale into paying Rs 20,64,777 for various reasons from time to time. All this has happened between June 2019 and October 2020.

 

Police have registered a case under sections 419 (impersonation) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with sections 66(c) and 66(d) of the Information Technology Act. Police Inspector (Crime) Rajesh Tatkare of Alankar Police Station is investigating the matter further.
