Chandannagar, 21st March 2025: In a shocking incident, an IT engineer allegedly killed his three-and-a-half-year-old son by slitting his throat and dumping the body in a deserted area. The crime, driven by suspicion over his wife’s character, has left the city in shock.

The accused, identified as Madhav Tiketi (38), was arrested by Pune Police. His son’s body was recovered and sent for postmortem at Sassoon General Hospital.

According to the police, a missing person complaint was filed at Chandannagar police station after the child’s mother reported that her husband and son had been missing since Thursday afternoon. The police launched an investigation, analyzing CCTV footage from areas including Lohgaon, Vadgaonsheri, and Hadapsar.

During the probe, the police found footage from Thursday around 2:30 pm, showing the father and son together. Later, around 5:00 pm, CCTV captured the accused buying clothes alone, raising suspicions. Tracking his mobile location, the police traced Madhav to a lodge in Vadgaonsheri, where he was found in an intoxicated state.

After regaining consciousness, the accused confessed to the murder, stating that he had killed his son and dumped the body near the highway. He was then taken to the crime scene, where the child’s blood-soaked body was found.

Speaking about the case, DCP (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav said, “The accused had been unemployed for the past two months. Previously, he worked as an IT engineer. He was deeply suspicious of his wife’s character and doubted whether the child was his own. Driven by this suspicion, he took his son out on Thursday and later committed the crime.”

Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakne of Chandannagar police station added, “The case was treated with utmost priority. Through technical analysis, we traced the accused’s location and apprehended him. He had purchased a knife and blade while taking away the child. The child’s body has been sent for postmortem, and further investigation is underway.”

The accused, originally from Visakhapatnam, had moved to Pune in 2016 for work. He is now in police custody, and further legal proceedings are in progress.
