Pune: Thar Rams Into Parked Two-Wheelers in Kothrud; CCTV Footage Goes Viral

Kothrud, 11th May 2025: A speeding luxury SUV rammed into multiple parked two-wheelers in Pune’s Kothrud area on Saturday night, sparking public outrage after CCTV footage of the incident surfaced online. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but several vehicles sustained significant damage.
The incident took place around 8:45 pm on May 10 near Euphoria by Kheliya in Kothrud. A black Mahindra Thar (registration number MH 12 UN 1306) was captured on CCTV recklessly colliding with at least five parked two-wheelers in the designated parking zone.
According to the complaint filed at the Alankar police station, the two-wheeler owner had parked his vehicle when the SUV lost control and slammed into the parked bikes. The footage shows the Thar speeding through the area before crashing into the line of vehicles. The accused has been identified as Rishi Pujari (31).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Sambhaji Kadam confirmed the development. “The Thar vehicle collided with five two-wheelers in a parking area around 9 pm. The accused has been detained along with the vehicle. Thankfully, there were no injuries. Further investigation is underway,” he told Punekar News.
When asked if the driver was drunk, DCP Kadam said, “We have sent him for medical test.”
A case has been registered at the Alankar police station, and officials said they are reviewing additional CCTV footage to verify the sequence of events and determine any possible violations.
