Pune: The Odyssey Leaves Audiences Impressed With Its Grand Visuals and Storytelling

Pune, 13th August 2026: Christopher Nolan’s much-awaited The Odyssey has finally arrived in Indian theatres, bringing Homer’s ancient Greek epic to the big screen with a star-studded cast led by Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway and Tom Holland. The film is the story of Odysseus’s journey back home after the Trojan War

Outside a Cinema hall in Kalyani Nagar, the audience reaction was largely positive, with several young moviegoers saying the film lived up to the hype that had been building around its release in India.

“The acting was really good, especially Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway. They completely carried their characters,” said one viewer, who gave the film a high rating.

Rahul Singh praised the film’s visual presentation and said the lighting was one of its strongest elements. “The lighting was really good, and the movie looked amazing on the big screen,” the viewer said.

For Varsha Malu and Saloni Chitlangye, the story and its ending were the biggest highlights. They particularly enjoyed the film’s renovation of the classic epic, saying the way the familiar story was presented for a modern audience made the experience more engaging. Another viewer rated the film 8.5/10 and said it deserved even more recognition.

However, not everyone found the first half equally accessible. One viewer Rashi Tangri felt that some pre-context about Greek mythology and the original story was necessary to fully understand the opening portions of the film. According to them, the second half, however, successfully grabbed the audience’s attention and maintained the momentum until the end.

The most notable thing was the enthusiasm among younger theatre-goers. The conversations were less about whether the film was simply entertaining and more about its performances, visuals and interpretation of a story that many already knew.

Despite the need for some background knowledge in the first half, the overall response from Pune audiences remained strongly positive. For viewers looking for a large-scale cinematic experience, The Odyssey appears to have successfully turned the hype surrounding its release into genuine excitement outside the theatres.
