Pune: Thergaon and Bhosari stitching unit centre beneficiaries share experiences with Commissioner

Pimpri, 2nd May 2025: In a continued effort to bridge the gap between administration and citizens, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) ‘Coffee with Commissioner’ initiative hosted women from its Thergaon and Bhosari stitching unit centers for an open dialogue with Commissioner Shekhar Singh.
The session served as a platform for women—many of whom are widows or sole earners in their families—to voice their experiences, challenges, and aspirations. These centers, established by PCMC as part of its post-COVID recovery and women empowerment strategy, offer livelihood training and dignified employment opportunities to women from vulnerable backgrounds.
Commissioner Singh actively listened to the participants, gathering feedback on the functioning of the centers and exploring how PCMC could better support them through expanded training modules and consistent work opportunities. Plans to link the centers with institutional contracts—such as stitching uniforms for schools and companies—were also discussed, along with necessary skill upgrades.
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Mamata Shinde, Assistant Social Development Officer Santoshi Chorage, coordinators Vaishali Kharat and Jayshree Pawale, and several women participants from both centers.
