Pune: Third Murder In Two Weeks Creates Panic In Mundhwa

Mundhwa, 18th May 2026: A young man was found murdered in Pune’s Mundhwa area on Saturday morning, marking the third murder reported in the locality within the last 15 days. The victim was allegedly killed by being hit on the head with a stone near the busy Z Corner junction in Mundhwa.

Police said the identity of the deceased could not be established till late Saturday night. A murder case has been registered at the Mundhwa Police Station and further investigation is underway.

According to police, information was received by the police control room early Saturday morning about an injured man lying near Z Corner, a crowded junction in Mundhwa. A police team rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to a hospital. However, doctors declared him dead before treatment could begin.

During the spot inspection, police recovered a mobile phone from the crime scene and are using it to ascertain the identity of the victim.
Mundhwa police officials said a case of murder has been registered and efforts are underway to trace the accused and identify the deceased youth.

The latest incident comes amid growing concern over a series of murders reported in the Mundhwa area in recent weeks.

Last week, a young woman who operated a beauty parlour was allegedly strangled to death over an illicit relationship dispute. The Pune Crime Branch later solved the case and arrested one accused in connection with the murder.

In another incident, Lokesh Mansing Thombre, 30, was allegedly murdered by his friend following an argument while consuming alcohol. Police had arrested the juvenile accused in that case.

With three murders reported in the Mundhwa area within a span of 15 days, concerns over law and order in the locality have intensified.
