Pune: Thousands of MPSC Aspirants Gather in Pune, Demand Action Against Irregularities and Evaluation Errors

Pune, 7th September 2026: Thousands of MPSC aspirants gathered in Pune on Sunday under the banner of the Vidyarthi Akrosh Morcha, demanding greater transparency, accountability and immediate action against irregularities in the functioning of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).
A large number of aspirants from across Maharashtra participated in the protest, raising concerns over examination irregularities, evaluation errors and the recent paper leak controversy. The protesters marched towards the Pune District Collector’s Office, where they pressed for immediate action on a comprehensive 12-point charter of demands.
Among their key demands, the aspirants sought action against the MPSC Chairman and Secretary and demanded that officials with a clean and credible image be appointed to the commission. They also called for clarification within eight days regarding allegations surrounding the Group-B Drug Inspector examination, along with a thorough inquiry into the alleged irregularities.
The protesters further demanded an investigation into errors in the descriptive papers of the Rajyaseva Main 2023 and Krushi Seva examinations. They also called for the preliminary inquiry report submitted by the Mumbai Crime Branch to the MPSC to be made public.
Another major demand was a forensic audit of all examinations conducted during the tenure of the accused former secretary. Aspirants also sought an investigation into the role and possible financial links of the accused officials, along with scrutiny of the service records and promotions connected to the case.
The charter further demanded an examination of the Call Detail Records (CDR) of selected candidates allegedly in contact with the accused individuals, as well as an independent investigation into the possible involvement of other agencies and intermediaries.
The aspirants also raised concerns regarding examination rankings and demanded an independent inquiry into results where students have expressed doubts. They called for a forensic audit concerning the marks and results of candidates in the ‘D’ category, where alleged discrepancies have been flagged.
With the Group-C preliminary examination scheduled for October 25, 2026, the protesters demanded that the examination be conducted in a completely transparent, fair and secure manner. They also sought reconsideration of the decision regarding recruitment for the Stenographer post.
NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, who joined the protest and extended his support to the aspirants, said the government must directly engage with students and seriously address every concern raised by them.
Speaking at the protest, Pawar said, “The government should call all the aspirants for discussions and listen to each of their demands. Every concern raised by students must be addressed seriously. If there has been corruption or if any officer has been involved in corrupt practices, the names of those responsible should come before the public and strict action must be taken against them.”
He further stressed that ignoring the concerns of aspirants would only lead to continued public protests.
“Such protests will continue if the government does not take these issues seriously. The government should take immediate action and ensure that the future of lakhs of hardworking aspirants is not compromised,” Pawar said.
The massive gathering reflected the growing frustration among Maharashtra’s competitive examination aspirants, many of whom said repeated controversies surrounding recruitment examinations have created uncertainty and affected their confidence in the system.
With slogans demanding transparency and accountability echoing through the protest venue, the demonstrators made it clear that they expect swift intervention from the state government and concrete measures to restore credibility and public trust in the MPSC examination and recruitment process.
