Pune: Three Arrested for IPL Betting in Pimpri, Valuables Worth Rs 2.25 Lakh Seized

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 27th March 2025: Police have intensified their crackdown on cricket betting in Pimpri, leading to the arrest of three individuals wagering on the Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders IPL match. Among those arrested is the nephew of a former corporator.

The accused have been identified as Mayur Chander Mevani, Dheeraj Chander Mevani, and Akash Haresh Ahuja. Acting on a tip-off, Pimpri police raided a locked room on Pimpri River Road, where the trio was found using the Cricket Line Guru app for betting.

During the raid, police seized valuables worth ₹2.25 lakh, including five mobile phones and cash. A case has been registered at Pimpri police station under Sections 4, 5, 12(A) of the Maharashtra Gambling Act and Section 25(C) of the Indian Telegraph Act.

The case was registered based on a complaint by Police Officer Vishnu Gautam Bharti, and further investigations are underway under Assistant Police Inspector Digambar Atigray.
