Pune, 9th March 2021: Additional municipal commissioner Rubal Agarwal has directed to seal three laboratories in the city as they provided inadequate information of the Covid-19 positive patients.

The three labs include Suburban, Metropolis and Krasnaa Diagnostics. The action was taken against them as they provided inadequate information about the patients who had come for the testing, not keeping the record properly. It created problems to trace nearly 30 percent of the Covid-19 patients in the city.

‘Since these 30 percent patients are untraceable, the people who have come in contact with them too remained untraceable. This has led to the surge in the number of positive patients”, said the municipal officers.

According to the guidelines issued by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the private laboratories have to provide the name of the patient, the detailed address, mobile number within 24 hours from the test.

The municipal body had sent written reminders to these laboratories, yet they failed to respond. Thus, the civic body had to take the action.
