Pune: Three Nepali Nationals Arrested in Pimpri-Chinchwad for Home Burglary, Jewellery Worth Rs 4.05 Lakh Seized

Nigdi, 26th April 2025: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have arrested three Nepali men involved in a sophisticated home burglary where the homeowner was drugged using sedatives mixed in coffee. The accused- Kamal Bahadur Nayaran Shahi, Naveen Bahadur Rudra Bahadur Shahi (24), and Nar Bahadur Deep Bahadur Shahi (38)-allegedly stole valuables worth over Rs 16 lakh, including jewellery worth Rs 4.05 lakh recovered from them, while the rest were sold in Nepal.
According to police reports, a Nepali woman working as domestic help in Nigdi administered the sedative-laced coffee to the homeowner. Once incapacitated, the accused called their accomplices waiting outside into the house and looted cash and gold jewellery. Police investigation revealed the trio had been residing in Bengaluru before coming to Pune and had committed similar burglaries there. Using social media and surveillance, police tracked their movements over five months.
Two accused, Naveen and Nar, were arrested in Bengaluru while preparing to fly back to Nepal, with local police assistance. Kamal was apprehended earlier in Hinjewadi. The trio reportedly operated in groups, gaining the trust of wealthy homeowners by working as domestic help or caretakers, then drugging them through food or beverages to facilitate theft before fleeing to Nepal.
Police have warned residents to exercise caution and verify domestic help backgrounds, as the gang is believed to be involved in multiple such burglaries across major cities.
