Pune: Three Workers Dead In Fire At Mandap Materials Storage Facility In Wagholi
Wagholi, 6th May 2023: Late last night, a devastating fire broke out at the Shubh Sajawat godown located in Kavade Vasti, Ubale Nagar area of Wagholi, Pune. Three workers have died in the incident.
The blaze erupted at approximately 11:43 pm on Friday, with 4-5 cylinders exploding, adding to the inferno’s intensity. The godown was stocked with wedding decorations, lighting, wires, cushions, carpets, and painting materials, which fueled the flames.
The godown also housed around 400 cylinders, posing a significant risk to nearby residential buildings. As a precautionary measure, residents were advised to evacuate to safe areas to prevent the fire from spreading.
A total of nine fire engines, comprising teams from the PMRDA Fire Brigade and Pune Municipal Corporation, assisted by 45 firefighters, battled the blaze, finally bringing it under control. Unfortunately, the fire claimed the lives of three workers on-site.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently under investigation by the PMRDA and Chief Fire Officer of Pune Municipal Corporation, Devendra Potfode.
