Pune: Three-Year-Old Boy Dies Of Electrocution, Had Come In Contact With Live Wire On Roadside

Kondhwa, 3rd March 2022: A toddler died of electrocution after he touched a live wire protruding from a distribution panel (DP) box near his house in Nawazish Park in Kondhwa.
The deceased has been identified as Shahzad Amir Sayyed.
The incident took place around 2 pm on Wednesday. It has been captured on a CCTV camera where the deceased is seen getting stuck after coming in touch with a live electric wire.
Amir Sayyed, the child’s father, said that his son was playing with a stick that had fallen. He came in contact with a live wire as soon as he bowed down to pick up the stick.
The local residents blamed Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) and contractors for negligence which resulted in the death of the child.
Social worker Saleem Mulla, who is also the president of Maharashtra Wakf Liberation and Protection Task Force, said that there are many exposed wires in DP boxes in the area.
“We have demanded monetary compensation for the deceased’s family, as well as legal action against the responsible contractor, supervisor, MSEDCL and PMC officers”, he said.
