Pune: Traffic Diversions Announced for Maratha Reservation Rally Led by Manoj Jarange Patil on Sunday

Pune, 10th August 2024: Maratha activist Manoj Jarange Patil will hold a peace rally in Pune to advocate for the Maratha reservation. As a result, various areas, including Peth areas, Shivajinagar, and Deccan, will experience traffic changes as announced by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Rohidas Pawar.

Jarange Patil’s Rally Route:
The rally will commence from Sarasbaug and proceed along the following route: Puram Chowk – Bajirao Road – Shanipar – Seva Sadan Chowk – Appa Balwant Chowk – Phutka Buruj – Kakasaheb Gadgil Statue – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Bridge – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue – Shri Shivaji Preparatory Military School – SG Barve Chowk – left turn onto Jangali Maharaj (JM) Road – Jhansi Rani Chowk – Natraj Chowk – Garware Bridge – Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Statue. The rally will conclude at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Chowk, where Jarange Patil will address the crowd.

Due to the rally and the massive support anticipated, traffic will need to be planned very meticulously. As a result, the Pune City Police Commissionerate’s Traffic Branch has planned diversions.

> Diversion Spots as Needed:

1. Navale Bridge
Traffic coming from Navale Bridge will be diverted via the new Katraj Tunnel. Heavy vehicles not permitted towards Khadi Machine Chowk and Katraj will be redirected to Bopdev Ghat. As the rally proceeds towards Vholga Chowk, traffic congestion in the Katraj area will be normalized.

2. Sinhagad Road
Traffic from Jedhe Chowk to Sinhagad Road will be redirected via Vholga Chowk – Mitra Mandal Chowk – Savarkar Chowk.

3. Dandekar Bridge
Traffic from Sinhagad Road will be redirected from Dandekar Bridge – Savarkar Chowk – Mitra Mandal Chowk – Vholga Chowk. Traffic towards Nilayam Bridge and Savarkar Statue, as well as NC Phadake, Sanas Statue, SP College Chowk, and Puram Chowk, will be closed.

4. Jedhe Chowk
Traffic will be diverted as necessary. Vehicles will be rerouted via Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road – Rashtrabhushan Chowk – Vega Centre. Traffic will be closed for Seven Loves Chowk and Jedhe Chowk. Vehicles will be diverted via Market Yard or Pune Railway Station.

5. Satara Road
Vehicles will not be allowed from Market Yard Junction to Jedhe Chowk. All vehicles will be diverted via Maharashtra Warehousing Corporation. Vehicles from Panchami Chowk to Jedhe Chowk will not be allowed. Shivdarshan Chowk to Mitra Mandal Chowk will also be closed. Vehicles will be redirected via Panchami Chowk – Shivdarshan Chowk – Gajanan Maharaj Mandir Chowk – Nilayam Talkies.

After the Rally Starts, Traffic Diversions Will Be:

– Shanipar Chowk – Kumthekar Road
– Laxmi Road – Belbaug Chowk
– Kelkar Road – Takle Haveli – Appa Balwant Chowk
– Budhwar Chowk – Appa Balwant Chowk
– Jijamata Chowk – Phutka Buruj
– Jaywantrao Tilak Bridge – Shaniwar Wada
– Kumbhar Ves Chowk – Kakasaheb Gadgil Statue
– City Pride: Mangala Cinema – The Premier Garage
– Khude Chowk – The Premier Garage
– Shivajinagar Court – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue Chowk
– Revenue Colony Junction – Modern Colony
– Mahatma Phule Museum – Jhansi Rani Chowk

All vehicles at SG Barve Chowk will be redirected via Shimla Office Chowk. Vehicles from Jhansi Rani Chowk will be directed via Savarkar Bhavan Chowk towards Onkareshwar Bridge.

After the Rally Enters JM Road, Traffic Closures Will Be:

– Good Luck Chowk – Natraj Chowk
– Z Bridge – Kelkar Road
– Bhide Bridge – Pulachi Wadi towards JM Road
– Nal Stop Chowk – Khandoji Baba Chowk
– Deccan Police Station (Shelarmama Chowk) – Khandoji Baba Chowk

Vehicles coming from Bhandarkar Road will be redirected via FC Road to their desired destination. Vehicles at Rasashala Chowk – SM Joshi Bridge will be directed towards Nal Stop.

After the Rally Enters Khandoji Baba Chowk, Traffic Closures Will Be:

– Tilak Chowk – Khandoji Baba Chowk
Vehicles will be diverted via Kumthekar Road and Tilak Road.

Additionally, the Pune City Traffic Branch has stated that as the rally progresses, the areas that have been left behind will be opened for traffic.
