Pune Traffic Diversions: Major Roads To Be Affected Ahead Of Tiranga Rally; Check Alternate Routes

Pune, 10th August 2026: Pune commuters travelling through the central and western parts of the city should be prepared for traffic restrictions and diversions as the Pune City Traffic Police have issued an advisory ahead of a Tiranga rally. Several key roads and junctions are expected to see changes in vehicular movement depending on the movement of the rally.

For commuters, the major impact is expected around Khandoji Baba Chowk, Swargate, Alka Talkies, Senadatta Chowk, Garware Chowk and other connecting roads.

According to the traffic advisory, vehicles travelling from Swargate towards Pune University will be diverted through Alka Chowk, Khandoji Baba Chowk, Vir Savarkar Chowk, Anna Bhau Sathe Chowk, N C Phadke Chowk, Mangirbaba Chowk, Senadatta Chowk, Bal Shivaji-Mhatre Bridge, Nal Stop and Law College Road.

Those travelling from Swargate towards Khadki or the old Pune-Mumbai Highway will also have to take an alternate route. Traffic will be diverted via Anna Bhau Sathe Chowk, Puram Chowk, Bajirao Road, Gadgil Putla, Kumbhar Ves and RTO Chowk.

Commuters approaching Khandoji Baba Chowk will be diverted towards Nal Stop, Paud Phata and Aathawale Chowk before proceeding towards Law College Road.

Traffic movement from Alka Talkies Chowk will be redirected through Kelkar Road, Nadi Patra, Shaniwar Wada and Gadgil Putla.

Further restrictions are expected around Senadatta Chowk, where vehicles will be diverted via the Bal Shivaji-Mhatre Bridge. Vehicles approaching from Shamarav Ganpati Chowk will instead be diverted through Patrakar Bhavan, S M Joshi Bridge and Garware College.

Another important diversion will affect traffic travelling between Garware Chowk and Chafekar Chowk. Vehicles on this stretch will be redirected through Shelar Mama Chowk, Prabhat Road, Law College Road, S B Road and Vidyapeeth Chowk.

With several of these routes connecting major parts of central Pune, commuters are likely to experience slower movement and congestion at diversion points, particularly during the period of the rally.

The traffic police have advised motorists to take note of the temporary changes and plan their journeys accordingly. Commuters travelling through central Pune, particularly towards Shivajinagar, Deccan, University Road, Swargate and surrounding areas, should allow additional travel time and follow directions issued by traffic personnel on the ground.

The diversions will remain subject to changes depending on traffic conditions and the movement of the rally.
