Pune: Traffic Fines Worth Rs 191 Crore Remain Unpaid For Over Three Years

Pune, 1st November: Unpaid traffic fines in Pune between January and October this year have added up to Rs 52.44 crore. The overall amount comes to a whopping Rs 191 crore when the unpaid amounts of Rs 88.69 crore from 2021 and Rs 51 crore from 2020 are added.

 

The Pune Police are yet to begin recollecting fines post-Diwali in the city. Chandrakant Patil, the District Guardian Minister, had requested the force to stop collecting fines during the festival and focus on traffic regulation instead.

 

 

Very few citizens tend to complete their dues issued by the intelligent traffic monitoring system. Meanwhile, Commissioner Amitabh Gupta has stated that the amount of unpaid fines are far too massive. He explained that the force has planned to conduct nakabandi operations to recover these fines.
