Pune: Trainee Police Constable Found Dead After Insecticide Spray in Flat
Budhwar Peth, 23rd October 2025: A 26-year-old trainee police officer died allegedly due to suffocation after spraying insecticide in a flat located opposite Shri Jogeshwari Temple in Budhwar Peth. The incident came to light on Tuesday evening, and a case of sudden death has been registered at Vishrambaug Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Ravindra Baban Jadhav, a resident of Indapur in Pune district. Jadhav was undergoing training at the Police Training Centre in Solapur and had come to Pune during the Diwali vacation to visit a friend residing in the society opposite Shri Jogeshwari Temple.
According to police, Jadhav’s friend, who is preparing for a competitive exam, was also staying in the flat. On Tuesday, Jadhav was resting inside and had locked the door. When his friends tried calling him in the afternoon, he did not respond. Concerned, they broke open the door and found him unconscious. He was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead before treatment could begin.
Upon receiving information, a team from Vishrambaug Police Station, including officials from the Crime Branch, visited the spot. Preliminary investigation revealed that the flat had been recently sprayed with insecticide. Police suspect that Jadhav may have died due to suffocation from toxic fumes.
“The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem report,” said Police Inspector Arun Ghodke from Vishrambaug Police Station.
The police have registered a case of unnatural death, and further investigation is underway.
