Pune: Twin Toddlers Die In Accident, Both Parents Injured

Vishrantwadi, 16th October 2023: A fuel tanker struck a two-wheeler near Vishrantwadi Chowk in Pune, leading to the tragic death of twin girls and causing severe injuries to both of their parents. The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 pm today.

According to the police, Satishkumar Jha (40), a resident of Bhosari, originally from Bihar, was operating the motorcycle with his 3.5-year-old twins and wife as pillion passengers. The petrol tanker struck the two-wheeler at Vishrantwadi Chowk while en route from the airport to Bhosari side, just as the traffic signal turned green.
As vehicles began moving from the airport toward Bhosari, the tanker collided with the two-wheeler, running over two girls and injuring their mother’s legs, said Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Sankhe, in-charge of Yerwada traffic division.
The woman, who has sustained grievous injuries, is currently receiving medical treatment at Sassoon Hospital.
Vishrantwadi Police have arrested the tanker driver Pramod Kumar Yadav.
