Pune: Two Brokers Arrested In Vehicle Insurance Fraud Case

Pune, 23rd November 2022: Anant Raghu Kachare, a resident of NIBM Road, Kondhwa, and Ajit Ashok Sawant (29), resident of Bhakrewadi, Solapur, currently residing at Kalbhornagar, Pimpri-Chinchwad have been arrested in an insurance fraud case.

 

An officer of ICICI Lombard Insurance Company, Swanand Jagdish Pandit (41), a resident of Bundgarden Road, filed a complaint at Koregaon Park Police Station.

The accused had cheated by changing the type of vehicle online and pretending that three-wheelers and four-wheelers were two-wheelers. They had cheated ICICI Lombard Insurance Company of crores of rupees by passing off 20,286 large vehicles as two-wheelers and also defrauded the government by not paying taxes. Pandit is an inspection officer in an insurance company. Pandit had checked the insurance policy. Then he checked the number of a bike. At that time, it was revealed that the vehicle number of the two-wheeler was registered in the name of tempo.

 

The insurance company made a thorough investigation. At that time, brokers had insured 2,286 large vehicles pretending to be two-wheelers. The brokers took money from motorists to get insurance. After the case was filed, the accused Kachre and Sawant had spread out. Police Sub-Inspector Shrikant Chavan informed that both have been arrested and the case is being thoroughly investigated.
