Pune: Two Consecutive Raids by Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Uncover Prostitution in Spa Centers

Wakad, 11th April 2024: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) has recently taken action against two establishments running illegal prostitution businesses disguised as massage services in spa centres. Two consecutive operations took place within the jurisdiction of the Wakad Police Station, revealing that spa operators, owners, and managers had been enticing women into prostitution with the promise of financial gain.

According to Anti-Human Trafficking Unit Inspector Devendra Chavan, the unit received intelligence that certain pimps were forcing girls into prostitution while using the facade of spa services at The Reese Spa, which is situated within the jurisdiction of the Wakad Police Station. Following this intelligence, police conducted a raid on Monday (8th) and arrested spa manager Umesh, also known as Aniket Indrajit Dubey, residing in Baner, Pune but originally from Uttar Pradesh.

Umesh Dubey and the spa centre owner women had coerced three women into prostitution by offering them money. The police successfully rescued three women from their control.

This operation was overseen by Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Choubey, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doifode, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr. Vishal Hire. AHTU team included Police Inspector Devendra Chavan, Personnel Sunil Shirsat, Maruti Karchunde, Bhagwanta Muthe, Vaishnavi Gawde, Sangeeta Jadhav, and Sonali Mane.

Similar action took place two days prior within the limits of Wakad Police Station, where the AHTU dismantled an illegal prostitution business operating in a spa centre at Spot 18 Mall in Pimple Saudagar. Women were being lured into prostitution with the promise of money under the pretence of providing massages. In this case, two young women were rescued by the police.
