Two Youths Arrested for Selling Banned Nylon Manja

Pune, 20th November 2025: Mundhwa Police on Wednesday arrested two youths and seized banned nylon manja worth ₹1,08,800 during a raid near Hadapsar Railway Station. The operation followed a tip-off regarding the illegal sale of the hazardous material in the area.

According to police, constables Shivaji Jadhav and Yogesh Raut received information from a confidential source that two individuals were arriving to sell nylon manja to known customers. Acting on the alert, PSI Yuvraj Poman informed senior officials and assembled a team to carry out the raid.

The arrested accused have been identified as Ayush Rahul Shinde (20) of Sasanenagar, Arihant Residency, Hadapsar, and Yashraj Vijay Divekar (20) of Higane Mala, near Bhairavnath Temple, Hadapsar. Police recovered multiple spools of Monofil Gold brand nylon manja from their possession.

A case has been registered against the duo at Mundhwa Police Station under IPC Section 223, Section 3(5) of the Maharashtra Police Act, and Sections 5 and 15 of the Environment Protection Act. Further investigation is ongoing, led by PSI Poman.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Anuradha Umale. The raid was executed under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Smita Vasanik and Police Inspector (Crime) Babasaheb Nikam, with assistance from API Raju Mahanor and a team including constables Shivaji Jadhav, Rahul Dhotre, Shivaji Dhandhe, Rahul More, Yogesh Gaikwad, Yogesh Raut, Rupesh Todekar, and Swapnil Raskar.
