Pune: Two Youths Electrocuted Near Bremen Chowk in Aundh; Probe Underway
Aundh, 14th July 2025: Two young men died of electrocution near Bremen Chowk in Aundh, Pune, on Saturday night.
The deceased have been identified as Vinod Chintaman Kshirsagar (29), a rickshaw driver and resident of Kasturba Gandhi Vasahat, Aundh, and Saurabh Vijay Nikalje (27), a private employee from Kothrud.
According to officials, both men came into contact with a Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) distribution panel (DP) located near a public toilet in the Bremen Chowk area. They are believed to have suffered a fatal electric shock from the equipment.
Vinod’s family had grown concerned after he failed to return home late into the night on July 13. His mother lodged a missing person complaint with the local police. Soon after, passersby alerted authorities about two unconscious individuals lying near the DP.
Police personnel from Chatushrungi Police Station reached the spot promptly. With assistance from MSEDCL officials, the electricity supply was cut off, and the bodies were safely retrieved.
“A case has been registered and further investigation is underway,” a police officer from Chatushrungi PS said. “We are awaiting post-mortem reports and will coordinate with MSEDCL to understand how such a dangerous situation was allowed to exist.”
