Pune University Launches Course For Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination

Pune, 24th February 2023: Prof Jayant Umranikar, Director of Competitive Examination Center and former Director General of Police, informed that training class for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination will be started in Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) from this year on the lines of competitive examination guidelines.

A competitive examination center for civil service examinations (MPSC, UPSC) has been established in SPPU. Through this competitive examination center, students are guided for civil service examinations. On the same lines, training classes for the CDS will now be conducted in this center.

An eight-month course has been prepared with the help of experts under the guidance of in-charge Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr Karbhari Kale, in which training for entrance examination and physical and mental training for Services Selection Board (SSB) screening will be given. It has a capacity of 50 students and a modest fee will be charged.

This training class will include regular guidance classes, tutorials, obstacle training, a library, necessary guidance for interviews, etc. In this training class, students will get guidance from Prof Jayant Umranikar along with retired Captain Prof Chandrasekhar Chitale, Colonel (retd) S Hasbanis, and military officers.

In the process of starting this training class Dr Prafulla Pawar, Registrar of the University and Captain Chandrasekhar Chitale have also made valuable contributions.

Dr Sanjeev Sonawane, Pro-Vice-Chancellor said, “The university started ‘National Cadet Corps (NCC) in the university a few months ago and these students will benefit from CDS training. It is planned to start this training class in April.”
