Pune University Opens Admissions for MBA (Distance Learning); Apply Online by 24th January 2025
Pune, 22nd January 2025: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), a university with ‘Graded Autonomy’ and a ‘Category-I’ status awarded by the University Grants Commission, has opened admissions for its MBA program in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode for the January-February 2025 academic session. The last date to apply online is 24th January 2025.
SPPU’s School of Open and Distance Learning (SOL) aims to make higher education accessible to diverse groups, including working professionals, homemakers, senior citizens, and those in remote areas. The program aligns with the National Education Policy’s emphasis on increasing the gross enrollment ratio in higher education.
The distance learning program offers students flexibility and accessibility through study centers in Pune, Ahilyanagar, and Nashik. Self-learning materials, subject guidance from teachers, and periodic academic counseling are integral to the program.
To be eligible for admission, candidates must hold a three-year bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% for backward classes, economically weaker sections, and persons with disabilities in Maharashtra). The first-year MBA admission fee is ₹33,430 for students from universities in Maharashtra and ₹35,230 for those from outside the state. This fee includes registration, tuition, study material, and examination fees.
The two-year MBA program, designed with a total of 110 credits, includes:
- Core subjects in management, marketing, human resources, and finance.
- Electives in areas like business analytics, digital marketing, and tourism management.
- A mandatory MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) with 10 credits.
- Project work in the third and fourth semesters.
Students have the flexibility to choose major and minor specializations from diverse fields, including Marketing Management, Project Management, and Pharma & Healthcare Management.
Assessments include internal evaluations conducted by the study centres and end-semester exams in a pen-and-paper format. Students must score at least 40% in both internal and end-semester evaluations to pass a subject.
