Pune University Organizes ‘Innofest-2021’ For Spotting Innovators, Startup Ideas

Pune, February 3, 2021: Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Enterprise( CIIE) at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has organized “Innofest-2021” starting from today. This Innofest has Hackathon, i-2-e competition, Pitchfest and final two-day summit.

This is an initiative to bring the startup ecosystem together and the festival will revolve around spotting innovators, startup ideas, pitching the ideas and mentorship through the boot camp. 

CIIE is doing this activity jointly with Pimpri Chinchwad Startup Incubation Centre. 250 colleges from SPPU who have set up startup innovation cells under CIIE will participate in i-2-e competition that is exclusively for colleges. In this colleges are expected to spot the startup ideas in the ideation stage, MVP stage and ready to go to the market stage and send the top two entries to the University. 

These will compete in cluster round where 9 clusters have been created. Top 24 ideas will be identified from the cluster round and they shall have the opportunity to get mentorship from experts for three days through a boot camp that is being organized by the centre that shall then compete for the final University level round. 

A panel of competent experts and Jury will evaluate all the proposals received at various levels. The team composition for this competition is 2 minimum members and 4 maximum members and the team lead should be in the final year of Graduation/ Post graduation program. This is open to all departments in the University. Last year 103 colleges participated in this competition and more than 2000 ideas were received through this competition.

Major addition this year is the Hackathon where PCMC has given its problem statements and needs solutions on the following areas 

— Innovative solution for recycling at residential and commercial unit level

— Decentralized recycling solution

— Solutions for Home composting 

— To promote awareness among citizens regarding segregation and home composting

— Improvement of Public Toilet Operation and Maintenance

— Ghat cleaning as a regular activity.

— Mechanism to control river pollution

— Scientific disposal of STP sludge

— E waste collection and disposal

— Remedies to tackle air pollution

— Disposal of Refuse Derived fuel from Material recovery facility

PCMC has announced a cash prize of Rs 3 lac for the winner and Rs 1 lac for runner up.

Kloud Q a group company of Kirloskars has also provided the problem statements which are as follows:

1. Fuel theft detection in heavy vehicles

2. High accuracy fuel consumption measurement

3. Tilt axis fuel measurement

4. Load measurement of pick up vehicles and module for mass measurement

5. Productivity measurement of earth moving vehicles

6. Productivity measurement of CNC machines

7. CAN communication libraries of earth moving equipment

8. Vibration measurement and analysis to detect early equipment breakdowns

9. Lora based control of agri pumps

10. Remote vehicle immobilization

 

Kloud Q has declared a cash prize of Rs 5 lacs to the winner.

For Hackathons team composition is of minimum two members and maximum 4 members.

Inno-Fest also opens avenues for startups to come and pitch at the pitch fest directly. Those found meeting the standard norms and selected by Jury shall be inducted in the incubation centre at either of CIIE and PCSIC incubation centres.

All the top finalists will get an opportunity to showcase their innovative solutions during the grand finale that will be hosted on 5/6 March 2021 during the Inno-Fest Summit 2021. This summit will have speakers from startups, investment community, government and industry. This summit will be open for all interested in startups and shall be basis the nominations received on the registration link at the University 

This opens up opportunities for thinkers and innovators to work on areas defined. All competitions will be conducted in virtual mode.

  3. I-2-e competition College level : 1 February to 6th February 6 pm

  5. Boot Camp: 23/24/25 February
