Pune University Students Can Now Study Environmental Course With Credits

Pune, 27th December 2022: Students at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and the colleges affiliated with it can now study environmental changes and environmental conservation. SPPU has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Blue Planet Skill Private Limited in Singapore, through which lessons on sustainable development will be given to the students.

Blue Planet Skill Private Limited and the SPPU signed this memorandum of understanding today at the Vice Chancellor’s Office. On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Dr Karbhari Kale, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr Sanjeev Sonwane, Registrar Dr Prafulla Pawar, Head of Department of Psychology Dr Rajendra Mhaske, Dr Juhi Deshmukh, Chief Executive Officer of Blue Planet Harsh Mehrotra, Vice President of Skills Department Krishna Kumar Gaur, and other dignitaries were present.

While giving information about this, Dr Mhaske said, “Through this agreement, the students of the university and affiliated colleges will be able to learn about sustainable development, recycling, green transportation, green energy, health, water conservation, health and safety, and dietetics, among other topics. Students doing this course will also get credits.”

The National Education Policy 2020 emphasises studying environmental changes. Also, the concept of the G20 conference this year is sustainable development. Through this agreement, the university has taken a step toward the environment and sustainable development.
