Pune, 26th June 2021: Many students have lost their parents due to Coronavirus disease (COVID19). With this in mind, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has decided to waive last year’s and this year’s examination fees for students whose mother or father has died due to COVID19.

The Pune University Management Council meeting was held today (Saturday) where this decision was taken. There are colleges affiliated with the university in three districts namely Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik, in which many students have lost their mothers and fathers due to corona. The council unanimously approved the waiver of the fees of those students.

Although the university has given relief to many students, the issue of postponing the fee hike, which is important for about seven lakh students, has not been discussed at the management council meeting. The University of Pune has increased the tuition fees of affiliated colleges but postponed it for a year due to the Corona crisis last year.

But now it may increase for the year 2021-22. The students also demanded that the fee hike be postponed like last year. But it was not discussed in today’s meeting, it has been said that it will be discussed in the next meeting.
