Pune: Velhe Police Investigate Sudden Death Case After Man’s Body Discovered in Dam Backwater

Velhe, 26th April 2024: Assistant Police Inspector Nitin Khamgal of Velhe Police Station has informed that the body of a man from Askavadi was discovered in the backwater of Gunjwani Dam, prompting the registration of a sudden death case at Velhe Police Station. The deceased, identified as Ravindra Nivritti Daswadkar (43 years old), was a resident of Ambegaon Pathar, Pune, originally from Askavadi in Rajgad Taluka.

Providing further details, the police reported that on Friday afternoon (25th April), a woman reported her husband missing to the Velhe police. Upon investigation, the missing person’s two-wheeler was located in the vicinity of the dam’s backwater.

During the search of the area, belongings of the deceased, including a mobile phone and slippers, were discovered. Assistant Police Inspector Nitin Khamgal, along with police constables Vaijnath Ghumre, Vishwanath Jadhav, and Akash Patil, conducted a thorough search of the area. However, as the individual remained unaccounted for, the disaster management team was summoned to assist in a water search, based on initial assessments.

Meanwhile, members of the disaster management team located the body of the individual in the dam’s water. Upon retrieval, the body was transported to a rural hospital in Velhe for post-mortem examination, as confirmed by Velhe Police Station Officer Audumbar Adval. Further investigation is underway under the guidance of Assistant Police Inspector Nitin Khamgal of Velhe.
