Pune: Venkatesh Chapalgaonkar Memorial Lecture to take place on May 30th

Pune, 25th May 2025: This year’s edition of the Venkatesh Chapalgaonkar Memorial Lecture, which is being jointly organized by the Friends of Venkatesh and Pune Shramik Patrakar Sangh shall take place at 11:30am on Friday, May 30th at Pune Shramik Patrakar Sangh, Navi Peth, Pune.
Dhanya Rajendran, noted journalist, co-founder and the editor of ‘The News Minute’, the news portal that focuses on news and happenings about the five southern states of India will deliver the lecture on the topic titled Indian News Media – The Divide Within.
Before starting ‘The News Minute’, a digital news website focusing on the news coverage of the southern states of India in 2014, Dhanya worked with Kerala’s first 24 hours news channel India Vision, Times Now and The New Indian Express. Recipient of several awards for her outstanding work in media, Dhanya Rajendran has always raised voice against the online harassment of women journalists.
Venkatesh Chapalgaonkar, a dynamic and fearless journalist of ABP Majha died in a car accident in 2009 while covering the LS Elections. Since then every year this lecture is organized in his memory. Veteran journalists like Arnab Goswami, Siddharth Varadrajan, Rajdeep Sardesai, Rajiv Khandekar, Neeraja Chaudhari, Girish Kuber and Kumar Ketkar have delivered lectures on various topics during this Venkatesh Chapalgaokar Memorial Lecture Series in the past.
