Pune: Violent Gang Attack Shakes Uttamnagar; Arrests Made, Hunt for Accomplices Continues

Uttamnagar, 24th May 2023: A vicious gang launched an attack on a young man, wielding a Koyta, and unleashed a barrage of stones at shops in the Uttamnagar area along NDA road, fueled by deep-seated enmity. The assailants resorted to brutal violence, using bamboo sticks to assault brave citizens who intervened in the confrontation.

In response to the heinous act, Pune police swiftly apprehended two individuals involved in the incident, while registering a case against their accomplices.

The victim, identified as 26-year-old Akash Kindare, a resident of Uttamnagar, has lodged a formal complaint at the Uttamnagar Police Station. The altercation originated from a dispute between Kindare and the accused, Ganesh Waghmare (22) hailing from Rahulnagar, Shivane, Uttamnagar and Prateek Sanjay Nalavde (24), residing in Ganga Building, Kondhwe Dhawade.

The situation escalated when Waghmare, Nalavde, and three other individuals, yet to be apprehended, descended upon Kindare in Uttamnagar. The incident took place around 8.50 pm on May 22 near Vitthal Mandir.

During the altercation, Kindare was ruthlessly attacked with a Koyta, while brave citizens who attempted to mediate the conflict became victims themselves, subjected to blows from bamboo sticks. The ensuing chaos also saw nearby establishments, including a chicken shop and a hair salon, become targets of terrifying stone pelting.

While two of the accused managed to evade capture, the police are diligently pursuing their arrest, along with the apprehension of the remaining accomplices.

Assistant Police Inspector Dadaraje Pawar is further investigating the case.
