Pune: Wakad Resident Alleges Receiving Rodent-Damaged Oats Packet from Swiggy Instamart, Raises Hygiene Concerns
Wakad, 25th July 2025: A resident of Wakad has raised alarm over alleged hygiene lapses at a Swiggy Instamart outlet after reportedly receiving a packet of oats that appeared to have been chewed by a rodent.
The consumer, who placed the grocery order through the Swiggy Instamart app, was shocked to find visible gnaw marks on the oats packet delivered from the Wakad-based warehouse.
“This is absolutely revolting. I opened the delivery bag and found the oats packet clearly nibbled by a mouse. Such negligence is unacceptable,” the customer said.
The individual further claimed that this wasn’t the first instance of receiving questionable items from the same outlet. “A few weeks ago, I was sent expired milk packets. I visited the store and they exchanged them, so I didn’t escalate the issue then. But this time, I’ve had enough,” they added.
Following the latest incident, the consumer has lodged an official complaint with the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), demanding strict action against the outlet for what they termed as “repeated health and safety violations.”
In reply to his tweet, Swiggy Cares stated, “Hi Shrikant, we do get your disappointment here. Our team has reached out to you and initiated a refund for the inconvenience caused. Rest assured, your feedback will be shared internally to help prevent similar issues moving forward.”
