Pune: Wakad Youth Stabs Man, ‘Bites’ Police Officers During Arrest

Wakad, 24th April 2024: Police beat marshals from Wakad Police Station intervened to assist a person involved in a stabbing incident. The perpetrator, identified as Suraj Chandrakant Kurhade, 22 years old and residing near Dhangar Baba Mandir in Thergaon, had allegedly stabbed Vilas Kamble, causing injuries. The incident took place at 7:00 PM on Monday, 22nd April, behind the Dhangar Baba temple in Thergaon.

According to the complaint filed by Police Constable Machhindra Varkate at Wakad Police Station, patrolling constables Varkate and Dinkar Pondkule responded to a call from the control room reporting the incident. Upon arrival at the scene behind Dhangar Baba Mandir, they found Suraj attempting to flee.

As Constable Varkate tried to detain Suraj, the suspect resisted and bit the hand of Varkate. Additionally, Satyanarayan Pillamari, a beat marshal from Kalewadi, who came to assist, was also bitten and injured by Suraj. The Wakad Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
