Pune: ‘Why Tankers During Monsoon?’ Housing Society Federation Meets PCMC Over Water Shortage, Tanker Dependence

Pimpri Chinchwad, 24th September 2026: Representatives of housing societies and the Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation on Wednesday met the PCMC water supply department to raise concerns over inadequate and low-pressure water supply, increasing dependence on tankers and pending requests for new water connections.

The meeting was held with Ajay Suryawanshi, joint city engineer, at the PCMC main building. Representatives also highlighted the challenges faced by individual societies and measures being taken by them for water conservation and efficient use of water.

The federation submitted a consolidated letter listing societies facing water-related problems, while individual representatives also submitted letters detailing their grievances.

Sachin Londhe, president of the federation, said the civic officials had assured them that the issues would be examined and resolved. The federation had earlier submitted a list of 36 affected societies from Wakad, Pimple Saudagar, Tathawade, Thergaon and Punawale.

Residents have been questioning the need to depend on private tankers even during the monsoon, particularly when the Pavana dam, the city’s key water source, is filled to capacity.

The meeting concluded with the civic officials assuring the representatives that the complaints would be examined and necessary action taken.
