Undri, 23rd July 2025: A mother and her young child narrowly escaped serious harm on Tuesday morning when a water tanker struck their two-wheeler on the Nyati Estate–Country Club road in Undri. The impact flung both onto the roadway, but luckily, they sustained only minor injuries, according to witnesses at the scene.

The incident has sparked renewed outrage among Undri residents, who have long raised concerns about the unregulated movement of water tankers and construction vehicles through the area’s increasingly congested and encroached roads.

Local residents claim that multiple pleas to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune Traffic Police have gone unheeded, despite repeated warnings about the risk posed by speeding heavy vehicles in densely populated residential areas.

Adding to the traffic woes is the ongoing construction of an underpass and flyover from Kad Nagar to Dhruv School near Caelum High School, particularly around the Corinthians Club junction, where daily congestion has worsened due to poor traffic control and road encroachments.

Residents are demanding urgent measures from civic authorities:
-Restricting heavy vehicle entry during peak hours
-Clearing road encroachments
-Deployment of traffic police for active regulation

“There’s no traffic regulation here. Tankers and trucks zoom past at reckless speeds, while road encroachments continue unchecked. Authorities seem to be waiting for someone to lose their life before they act,” said a concerned local resident.

Without swift intervention, they fear more such incidents, or worse, could occur.
