Pune: Woman Dies Trying to Retrieve Clothes, Door Locked from Outside

Kirkatwadi, 18th April 2023: A tragic incident occurred in which a young woman fell from the fourth floor while trying to pick up clothes that had fallen into the lower floor gallery, resulting in her death. The incident occurred in the Kirkatwadi area on Sinhagad Road.

The name of the deceased is Akanksha Gopal Singh, a 23-year-old resident of Samarth City, Shivnagar, Kirkatwadi, who had come to stay with her cousins fifteen days ago. Akanksha went to the gallery to retrieve the dry clothes but noticed they had fallen into the lower floor gallery. Unfortunately, the door of that flat was locked from the outside. Akanksha tied her saree in the fourth-floor gallery and began to descend, but lost her balance and fell. No one was home at the time of the incident.

The children playing on the ground floor of the building heard a loud sound of something falling and upon investigation, found Akanksha lying in a pool of blood. Residents of the building gathered after the children screamed. Akanksha’s relatives, who own a shop at Kolhewadi in the Sinhagad Road area, were informed about the incident.

After informing the police about the incident, Chandrakant Shinde, a police officer at Haveli police station, arrived at the scene. Akanksha was immediately taken to Sassoon Hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, she passed away before receiving treatment. The Haveli police station has registered a case of sudden death in this regard.
