Pune: Woman Killed After Husband Allegedly Strikes Her With LPG Cylinder in Kharadi
Kharadi, 24th June 2026: A woman was allegedly killed by her husband after he struck her on the head with a small LPG cylinder following a domestic dispute in Kharadi area late on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Kiran Jayaram Babar, believed to be in her early thirties. Her husband, Jayaram Totaram Babar, is the prime suspect in the case.
According to police, the couple, natives of Madhya Pradesh, had been living in a labour camp in Kharadi and worked on vehicles engaged in waste collection. Officials said an argument broke out between the two over a trivial issue around midnight. The altercation reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation.
During the dispute, Jayaram allegedly picked up a small domestic LPG cylinder and hit Kiran on the head. She sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot due to excessive bleeding, police said.
After being alerted, officers from Kharadi police station rushed to the scene and conducted a panchnama. The body was sent for post-mortem examination.
Police said the process of registering a murder case was underway and efforts had been launched to trace the accused, who is believed to be absconding. A police team has been formed to locate and apprehend him.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the labour settlement where the couple lived.
