Hadapsar, 1st March 2026: A shocking case of alleged medical negligence has come to light in the city, where a 35-year-old woman claims that her uterus was removed without her consent during a surgery meant to treat uterine fibroids. Following her complaint, police have registered a case against four doctors from a private hospital in Pune.

According to police, the woman lodged a complaint at Manjari Police Station. Based on her statement, an offence has been registered against the four doctors under Sections 125(b) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The complainant, who runs a beauty parlour, resides in the Keshavnagar area of Mundhwa. She told police that she underwent a sonography test in 2023, during which doctors detected a small fibroid in her uterus.

For further treatment, the woman was admitted to a private hospital in the Manjari area on September 13, 2025. Based on the sonography reports, doctors informed her that the fibroid would be removed through a laser procedure. She was admitted again on September 14, and the surgery was carried out on September 15.

The woman has alleged that she later discovered her uterus had been removed, despite giving consent only for the removal of the fibroid. Calling the act unauthorised and life-altering, she approached the police seeking action against those responsible.

Police officials said an investigation is underway to examine medical records, consent documents and the statements of the doctors involved. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
