Pune: Women Dominate Second Day of BMPWA Badminton Championship
Pune, 5th January 2024: Dr. Madhulika, Kalyani Wasu, Sherly Bharadwaj, Sarojan, Sharda Sampat, Kanyakumari, V. Gauri, Saroja BR, Rajni Dharne, Sunita Singh, Sonal Lakra, Jyothi Somaiah, and Shurta Keerthi were the medalists on the second day of the first BMPWA tournament in Pune from January 4-7, 2024.
Some of the organizers, including Veerpal Singh Verma, Raj Singh, SP Singh, and Sudhir Goyal, are seen standing in the last row.
Sudhir Goyal from Chandigarh mentioned that the second day of BMPWA was fully dominated by women players, with women winning gold, silver, and bronze in various categories.
Veerpal Singh Verma from Chhattisgarh expressed that this tournament is unique and historic. He praised the exemplary arrangements and stated that upcoming tournaments would be more exciting with improved arrangements for players.
Darayus Surti from Vadodara commended the excellent food arrangement and the organizers’ efforts in player arrangements. He also appreciated the good sports infrastructure at LSBI Badminton Arena.
Manohar Joshi (Retd, ACP) from Pune shared his experience, stating that he has played in many national tournaments across India, but this is his most memorable one. He appreciated the best possible care taken for players, including three-time meals and support for staying arrangements.
Gurbax Juneja from Bhopal, in the 65+ category, reached the semi-final event. He expressed excitement for the finals and conveyed his happiness with the overall arrangements.a
