Pune: Worker Loses Eye in Gas Nozzle Explosion at CNG Pump; Case Registered Against Owner and Manager

Dhankawadi, 16th December 2024: An accident at a CNG pump in Dhankawadi has left a worker with severe injuries, including the loss of his left eye. The incident occurred on Sunday evening when a gas nozzle exploded while the worker was filling a vehicle with CNG. The Sahakarnagar police have registered a case against the pump owner and manager, holding them responsible for the mishap.

The victim, Harshad Ganesh Gehlot (23), a resident of Dhankawadi, has been working at the S Square CNG petrol pump at Tin Hatti Chowk for the past year. Around 6:30 pm on Sunday, while Gehlot was filling a car with CNG gas, the nozzle suddenly exploded and struck his left eye. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that his eye could not be saved.

Gehlot later filed a formal complaint at the Sahakarnagar police station, alleging negligence on the part of the pump’s owner, Dhairyasheel Pansare, and manager, Rahit Harkurki, for failing to implement adequate safety measures. Based on his complaint, the police have registered a case against the two.
