Pune: Youth Attacks Young Woman With Chopper In Sadashiv Peth, Police Suspect Love Angle

Sadashiv Peth, 27th June 2023: A shocking incident unfolded in Sadashiv Peth when a young woman, who was preparing for the MPSC exam, was attacked by a fellow MPSC aspirant.
The incident occurred near the Perugate police chowky around 10 am, and the shocking CCTV footage capturing the incident has gone viral on social media. The girl was riding pillion on a two-wheeler when the attacker intercepted them near Hotel Nagpur.
As the assailant chased the terrified woman through the streets, bystanders failed to intervene or offer assistance. However, a courageous individual named Leshpal Jawalge emerged as a hero by swiftly coming to the victim’s aid. Just as the assailant poised to strike the girl with a Koyta, Leshpal bravely intervened, managing to disarm the attacker and prevent his escape. Subsequently, others joined in and subdued the assailant, rendering him unable to cause further harm.
Promptly alerting the authorities, concerned citizens handed over the assailant to the police. The motive behind the attack is believed to be one-sided love. The attacker has been identified as Shantanu Laxman Jadhav (22), a resident of Dongargaon in Mulshi taluka of Pune district, Maharashtra. The 20-year-old girl is a resident of Kothrud.
Eyewitnesses recount the harrowing sequence of events, detailing how the victim desperately fled from her assailant. Jawalge’s swift response and courageous act of disarming the attacker prevented a potentially grave outcome. The community rallied together, ensuring the safety of the young woman and delivering justice by restraining the assailant until the arrival of law enforcement.
Local authorities have taken the assailant into custody, and an investigation into the incident is underway. The victim, though traumatized, escaped major injuries thanks to the intervention of Jawalge and the collective efforts of concerned citizens. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and collective responsibility in ensuring public safety.
The Pune Police have commended the bravery displayed by Jawalge and have urged citizens to come forward with any additional information that may assist in the investigation. The MPSC aspirant community and residents of Sadashiv Peth are expressing their gratitude to Jawalge for his heroic act in the face of danger.
