Pune youth drowns in Dapoli, Ratnagiri
A 23 year old youth from Dighi in Pune, drowned in the Arabian sea at Karde beach in Ratnagiri on Saturday. His friend who was washed away is missing.
The deceased has been identified as Akshay More(23). His missing friend was identified as Nitin Patil(26).
As per information given by Ratnngiri district police, five friends from Dighi had reached at Karde beach around 11:30 am. The incident took place around 4 pm when they entered the sea for swimming.
Police inspector Daniel Ben fron Dapoli police station said that Ram Phad(29), Nilesh Bhongale(22), Ganesh Baratakke(23) , Nitin and Akshay were swimming when Ram, Nilesh and Ganesh returned to the shore at around 5 pm.”Nitin and Akshay continued to swim and got washed away,” Ben added.
Later Akshay’s body was fished out, while Nitin is still missing.
Akshay used to run a book stall while Nitin is studying in Pune.
