Pune: Youth From Rajasthan Arrested With Opium Worth Rs 60 Lakhs By Anti-Narcotics Squad
Pune, 29th July 2023: The Pune Police’s anti-narcotics squad apprehended a youth from Rajasthan for attempting to sell opium in the Hadapsar area. The authorities managed to seize opium worth Rs 60 lakh from the suspect.
The arrested individual has been identified as Mehnlal Megaram Bishnoi, 24 years old, residing in Bhagrapura, District Badner, Rajasthan. The operation was set into motion after Yogesh Mandhare, a police constable from the anti-narcotics squad, received information regarding a person planning to sell opium in the Fursungi area of Hadapsar. Acting swiftly, a police team laid a trap and apprehended the suspect.
Upon searching his bag, a significant amount of opium, weighing three kilograms and 29 grams, valued at Rs 60 lakh, was discovered and seized from Bishnoi.
In a separate operation in the Yerawada area, the police successfully caught a ganja peddler near a crematorium. The suspect, Sonu Sahebrao Kolse, aged 44, and residing in Subhash Colony, Srirampur, District Ahmednagar, was arrested with 9 kilograms and 935 grams of ganja valued at Rs 1 lakh 98 thousand 700.
The successful operations were carried out under the guidance and coordination of Additional Commissioner (Crime) Ramnath Pokle, DCP (Crime Branch) Amol Zende, ACP Satish Govekar, Police Inspector Sunil Thopte, Sub Inspector Shubhangi Narke, and Digambar Chavan, Sandeep Shelke, Yogesh Mandhare, Shivaji Ghule, and Santosh Deshpande.
