Pune: Youths Wielding Swords, Sticks Arrested for Chaos in Balewadi

Baner, 17th March 2025: Pune police have swiftly arrested a group of youths involved in a violent vandalism incident in Balewadi. On the night of 15th March, around 7-8 youths armed with sticks and swords wreaked havoc near Kaizen Society, damaging vehicles and threatening passersby.
An alert citizen promptly reported the incident to Baner Police Station, triggering a swift response. Senior Police Inspector Navnath Jagtap, under the guidance of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Khadki Division) Vithal Dabade, led the investigation. Within hours, the police tracked down and detained seven suspects in Wakad. Two cases—one for dacoity and another for vandalism—have been registered against them.
The rapid action by ACP Dabade, Inspector Jagtap, and the Baner police team has been widely appreciated by Balewadi residents. Many credited the response to the “Zero Tolerance to Crime” initiative that Inspector Jagtap had pledged to implement during a recent police-citizen dialogue organized by the Balewadi Welfare Federation.
Speaking to Punekar News, Senior Police Inspector Navnath Jagtap confirmed, “The seven accused, including one minor, have been arrested. They have been remanded to police custody until 20th March, and further investigations are underway.”
