Pune YouTuber Santosh Pandit Arrested by Kothrud Police Over Alleged Offensive Remarks
Kothrud, 3rd September 2026: YouTuber Santosh Pandit was arrested by Kothrud police late Wednesday night following a complaint over allegedly offensive and obscene remarks made in videos criticising development works undertaken by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
According to police, a case was registered against Pandit after a complaint was filed alleging that he had made objectionable and obscene comments in videos related to development works in Kothrud.
A police team reached Pandit’s residence at around 1 a.m. in two vehicles to take him into custody. Some police personnel were reportedly in plain clothes.
During the arrest, Pandit’s family members recorded a video of the police action. The video, which shows police taking Pandit to a vehicle, has since circulated widely on social media.
While being taken into custody, Pandit commented on the police action and said, “Police enter our house at around 12.30-1 a.m. This is the fate of people like us.” He also apologised to the police, saying, “If I have caused you any trouble, I apologise. Thank you for arresting me.”
Before getting into the police vehicle, Pandit handed over his mobile phone, vehicle keys and belt to his family members.
Why was Santosh Pandit booked?
Pandit regularly posts videos on social media highlighting alleged shortcomings in development works carried out by the PMC.
A few days ago, he had allegedly posted a video clip containing offensive and abusive language against Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil.
Former BJP local corporator Sunil Pande had filed a complaint in connection with the video, alleging that Pandit had publicly defamed the minister. Following the complaint, Deccan police registered a case under various sections of the law.
Meanwhile, Pandit was also accused of making objectionable remarks in videos concerning development works in Kothrud. A complaint was filed at the Kothrud police station in this connection.
Based on the complaint, Kothrud police registered a case and arrested Pandit late Wednesday night. Further investigation is underway.
