Freshscape Founders Akshay Bhosale and Tushar Ghate were pursuing their careers in civil engineering and marketing, respectively. However, in 2015 Akshay suffered from Steven Johnson Syndrome (SJS) which is a rare and serious disorder caused by an allergic reaction to a medicine. Subsequent allergy tests suggested that he is allergic to a lot of medicines and the doctor asked him to avoid all those medicines. So he was left with only one option that was to work on his immunity by eating natural and healthy food.
Slowly, he started eating nutritious food along with daily exercise. These were the only things that would keep him healthy and away from diseases and medicines.  
It is hard to imagine being a person suffering from such a rare allergy and not take any medicines for the rest of their life. However, the only option left with him was to gain immunity by only consuming natural food which was high in nutrition. So Akshay started living a healthy lifestyle by eating only natural food.
After going through such a challenging phase in life, Akshay felt the need to make a healthy lifestyle for himself and the people around him.

Akshay’s brother-in-law Tushar discussed the idea of hydroponic farming and salad boxes during a casual conversation which Akshay decided to act on and thus, FreshScape was born.

Speaking about his rare disease, Akshay said, “After I was diagnosed with Steven Johnson Syndrome, I had to spend a total of 15 days in the hospital, including seven days in the ICU. I had such low immunity that I was advised to stay home for at least six months till I regain my immunity. In those six months, I suffered from one or the other health issue every now and then. I got an allergy test done to determine what medicines I was allergic to and the result was not very encouraging. I was allergic to most of the range of medicines and the doctor directed that it’s better to avoid all those medicines.”
“The only solution for me was to increase my immunity and core strength which was possible through eating natural foods like exotic salad and fruits which have more nutritional value than the traditional vegetables. During my healing process, I also noticed that most of the fruits and vegetables which are available in the market are not 100 percent natural and are contaminated. By the time it reaches our plates, the nutritional value is approximately reduced by 50 to 60 per cent,” Akshay added. 

Further Akshay quoted that, he and Tushar began analyzing the decline in food quality as the soil was heavily contaminated by the use of fertilizers and other sources which affected the produce and in turn reflected on the health of the consumer. 

“In an era of progression where everything is upgraded right from clothes and housing to the way of living, the only aspect that we tend to overlook is our eating habits. If one gets nutritious food daily, then the percentage of ailment will drastically decrease,” Tushar said. 
“The urban population is primarily inclined towards an artificial lifestyle which is harmful to them. Most of the population is spending on medicines and supplements to get daily nutrition. But Freshscape sets aside all these things and focuses on the main things required for a healthy lifestyle i.e. natural food,” Tushar further informed.
Akshay also said that, the high nutritious value present in these exotic fruits, vegetables, microgreens and herbs helps in combating various chronic diseases and acts as a nutritional supplement to help fight diseases such as diabetes, cancer, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and many such illnesses.
