Pune’s Annwesa Singh clinched a bronze medal in the International Cultural Olympiad held in Bangkok

Pune, 7th December 2023: The 12th Cultural Olympiad of Performing Arts, organized by ABSS’S GLOBAL COUNCIL OF ART & CULTURE in collaboration with UNESCO, took place at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. The event showcased outstanding performances in Dance, Monoact, Folk Art, and Instrumental recitals. Over 300 artists from around the world participated in the Olympiad.

Annwesa Singh from Pune secured a bronze medal in Indian classical dance under the guidance of Shri Hemant Wagh and Smt. Ratna Wagh, Chairperson of ABSS. Annwesa has received training in Kathak Dance from Kolkata’s renowned Kathak dancer Panchali Mukherjee. Her exceptional dance performances have earned her numerous awards, including the Shri Mahatma Gandhi Rashtriya Abhiman Puraskar, Nritya Vibhushan Award, Shri Hari Nritya Ratna Samman Puraskar, Chairman’s Award, and Pillars of Maharashtra 2023.

The event was attended by dignitaries such as Vipul Pawar, Head of Chancery and Second Secretary (PIC) at the Indian Embassy in Thailand, Dr. Chaitanya Prakash Yogi, Director of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Bangkok, renowned sitar player Pt. Subrata Dey, accomplished Tabla player Siddharth Chatterjee, and celebrated artists like Singer Sankumay Debnath and Odissi and Kathak Dancer Barnali Sarkar.
