Warje, 14th October 2025: Expressing concern over the increasing crime incidents in Pune, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Chandra Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule has criticized the city’s deteriorating law and order situation. Sharing a CCTV video of a theft incident from Warje on social media platform X, she urged the Pune Police Commissioner to take immediate action, stating that “the law seems to have come to the rescue of criminals.”

In the video shared by Sule, a thief is seen entering a grocery store in Warje under the pretext of buying milk. When the shopkeeper handed him a milk packet, the man pretended to take out money from his wallet. In a sudden move, he reached out and snatched the mangalsutra worth ₹1 lakh from the woman’s neck and fled before anyone could react.

The incident has sparked public outrage, with citizens and opposition parties blaming the police and the home department for rising cases of murder, robbery, and theft across Pune.

Sule, who represents the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency, said the incident was “very unfortunate and disappointing for a city like Pune.” She added, “This is another example of how criminals get away with it. I request the Pune Police Commissioner to take serious note of this incident. Those who commit crimes in this manner must be brought to book.”

Following the incident, a case has been registered at the Malwadi Police Station in Warje.
