Pune’s PMPML Introduces Cashless UPI Ticketing System; Live Tracking Of Buses Also Planned

Pune, 1st October 2023: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal (PMPML) unveiled its cashless payment facility for bus tickets on October 1, 2023. The inauguration ceremony took place at Kothrud depot of PMPML and was presided over by Chandrakant Patil, Minister of Higher and Technical Education and Guardian Minister of Maharashtra State and Pune District. 

The event was attended by key figures including Chairman and Managing Director of PMPML, Sachindra Pratap Singh, Joint Managing Director Nitin Narvekar, and Chief Executive Officer Pragya Potdar-Pawar, among others. 

Speaking at the event, Chandrakant Patil emphasized the importance of the cashless system in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for digital transactions. He also highlighted the need for PMPML to integrate its ticketing system with the Pune Metro to facilitate seamless travel for Pune residents.

Sachindra Pratap Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of PMPML, stated that the organization has been working diligently over the past three months to improve public transport facilities. After a successful trial run at Baner Depot, the cashless ticketing service, facilitated through UPI payments, has been rolled out across all PMPML buses.

Singh also announced that within the next three months, PMPML plans to introduce live location tracking for 900 to 1200 buses, enhancing the commuting experience for Pune residents.
