Pune’s ‘Smart’ Roads Under Scanner: Car Gets Stuck in Pothole in Pashan-Sutarwadi

Pashan, 25th August 2026: A car became stuck in a pothole on a cement-concrete road in the Pashan-Sutarwadi area, raising concerns over the quality of road construction and maintenance in the city.

The incident reportedly took place on a recently concretised stretch of road. Despite the road being constructed with concrete, a pothole developed on the stretch, trapping the car. Local residents rushed to the spot and helped remove the vehicle.

The incident has sparked anger among residents, who questioned how potholes could develop on a newly constructed concrete road. They also raised concerns over the quality of civic works, particularly when significant public funds are being spent on road infrastructure.

Potholes have become a recurring problem across Pune and its suburbs during the monsoon. Poor road conditions not only inconvenience motorists but also increase the risk of accidents, traffic congestion and vehicle damage.

Residents have demanded that the Pune Municipal Corporation immediately inspect the affected road, repair the pothole and investigate the quality of the construction work.

They have also urged the civic administration to ensure that road projects are completed to proper quality standards and maintained regularly to ensure the safety of commuters.
